The Losers
Inspired by the 2004 Vertigo comic book series by writer Andy Diggle and artist Jock comes the latest DC comic adaptation: The Losers.
A group of Special Forces soldiers, each with unique talents, comprise the five-man unit. There’s Roque the demolition expert (Idris Elba), Cougar (Oscar Jaenada) the team sniper, Pooch (Columbus Short), who has a knack for "acquiring" transportation, and the technology expert Jensen (Chris Evans). The team is led by Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
After changing the outcome of a search and destroy mission since children were not part of the deal, the group find themselves betrayed: their CIA handler Max (Jason Patric) orders the destruction of the helicopter that the children were on. Max then denies any knowledge of the team, and thinks they’re dead.
Since the choice for the chopper was the children or the men, the men stayed behind and figured they get home some other way. Now, with them thought dead, the team vows to find out who Max is and get some revenge. Along the way they meet Aisha (Zoe Saldana) who can bankroll this mission, but also has ulterior motives to working with the team.
The extras for The Losers include a single deleted scene, and a featurette with Zoe Saldana talking about her role in the film--the cast and crew also chiming in. Losers creators Jock and Andy Diggle talk about the comic book, who their influences were growing up, and what the inspiration for the series was, as well as their thoughts on the film. A trio of featurettes cover the authenticity of the guns used in the film, the transformation of Puerto Rico into several worldwide locations, and a look at director’s Sylvain White’s style.
The film is a fun shoot-em up, which leaves the door open for sequels which could be a lot of fun. The film is at the very least worth a rental.
Special features include:
-Featurettes
