Get ready New York! Paul Van Dyk will spin twice in one night on Saturday, Aug. 16!

More than a few readers may conclude it’s not really summer in Gotham until Van Dyk makes his annual appearance. And EDGE wanted to know what is it about New York that makes him coming back.

"I have a long history with New York that starts back with my days at Twilo, and the past five years we have developed a sort of clubbing history with Central Park," he said. "New York is always really special to me and I look forward to coming back every year."

He will perform for the first time at Pier 54 along the Hudson River, but that’s not all. He will bring a completely different show, his Ibiza spectacle "This DJ’s Fucking Crazy," to Webster Hall later that night.

"Audiences can expect a fucking crazy DJ who will create a very intense and beautiful sound and music interaction on the pier," Van Dyk said when asked about his Ibiza show. "If anyone has ever been to Ibiza, [they know] that it’s insane. And this is going to be a fully produced visual and freeing event which will blow everyone away."

"I have a long history with New York that starts back with my days at Twilo, and the past five years we have developed a sort of clubbing history with Central Park. New York is always really special to me and I look forward to coming back every year.
Van Dyk will spin from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Pier 54. In addition to spectacular beats, there will also be a laser and light show. His Webster Hall show kicks off almost immediately after the pier spectacular ends. Jason Jollins and Matt Darey will open for Van Dyk. The show will continue until 6 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17.

"I want them to remember the entire experience; the music, the energy and the feeling will be like no other show they have experienced before," Van Dyk said.

Van Dyk started his career as a DJ at Tresor in Berlin in 1991. He re-mixed New Order’s Spooky? and then recorded his debut release 45 RPM.

The singles, Forbidden Fruit and Beautiful Place became international anthems for raves and electronic music. He’s a producer in addition to a performer, and his indefatigable stage presence and unique sound are known around the world.

Van Dyk first award came in 1999 after DJ Mag named him best producer. Music Berlin, Zürich, Amsterdam, Londres, Paris, Milan, New-York, Mexico, and Singapore have also named him best international DJ.

The Pier 54 show tickets start at $50 and can be purchased from www.ticketweb.com Tickets for the "combo party" (both shows) are $70 and can be purchased at www.made-event.com . The Pier 54 show is 18-plus and Webster Hall is 19-plus.
